Individual psychotherapy for adults in Warsaw

Forms of therapy

Individual psychotherapy for adults

Instytut Liberté practice in Warsaw - space for psychotherapy sessions

Individual psychotherapy is a regular collaboration based on methods with scientifically confirmed effectiveness (Evidence-Based Medicine). During the process, not only your behaviors change but also the deeper way you experience emotions, relationships, and beliefs that have so far hindered your functioning - in business, relationships, and everyday life.

Therapy goals are established jointly with the clinician during the initial meetings, after a diagnosis and the main problem areas have been formulated - we do not begin the process without clearly establishing where it is heading and what its main premises are.

What does it look like in practice?

Sessions take place on a fixed, set schedule (once or twice a week for 50 minutes). The person in therapy brings current difficulties, reflections, and experiences to the session. Analytical work with the therapist provides real insight into the unconscious mechanisms of the problem, yielding lasting results rather than momentary relief. Over time, the person in the process learns to fully and autonomously recognize their own patterns before they turn into a crisis.

Many people notice an improvement in wellbeing already after the first few sessions - however, it should be remembered that psychotherapy is a process, not a straight line. There are moments of acceleration and moments of slowdown; the role of a reliable therapist is to ensure full clinical safety in both of these phases.

About our methods

Deep structural change based on scientific evidence

At Instytut Liberté, we do not believe in superficial quick-fix methods, momentary symptom resets, or coaching-style motivational techniques. We conduct psychotherapy within the Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) paradigm - medicine grounded in scientific evidence. Real and lasting change in functioning requires reaching the unconscious causes of difficulties and restructuring the deep structures of personality.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

The psychodynamic approach is based on the premise that current decisions, stress responses, relational patterns, and professional barriers are correlated with unconscious defense mechanisms and internal conflicts. During regular sessions we analyze the dynamics that emerge in the "here and now" of the therapeutic relationship.

This enables gradual integration of identity, understanding of one's own patterns, and gaining real, conscious control over one's life. The effectiveness of this approach in treating mood disorders (depression, dysthymia), anxiety, and personality disorders is officially recognized and recommended by leading global health institutions, including the WHO and the UK's NICE.

Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP)

A particular, highly specialized extension of the psychodynamic approach used at our Institute is TFP (Transference-Focused Psychotherapy). It is a replicable, tightly structured therapy model based on empirical research, designed for people experiencing profound difficulties in emotion regulation, rigid personality barriers, and recurring relational and identity crises.

How does TFP work in practice? TFP uses the space of the practice as a confidential, laboratory-like environment. It allows unconscious response patterns - which you carry over into relationships with your team, business partners, or loved ones - to be identified live.

Precision and rigor: through confrontation with care and ongoing analytic work on barriers, TFP leads to the integration of the internal image of self and others, building genuine psychological resilience, decision-making stability, and mature autonomy.

Scope of help

Areas we work with.

  • Anxiety disorders

heightened emotional tension, excessive worry, anticipatory anxiety, and avoidance of situations that were not previously a problem.

  • Burnout

chronic exhaustion, cynicism toward work, declining motivation, and a deep sense of inadequacy despite objective success.

  • Career crises

difficult decisions about career direction, a change in leadership role, or a loss of meaning in activities that previously brought satisfaction.

  • The loneliness of the entrepreneur

decision-making isolation in leadership positions, a sense of being misunderstood, overwhelm, and the weight of excessive responsibility for the organization.

  • Identity crisis and lack of meaning

existential crisis, a sense of emptiness, and thoughts of giving up that arise despite external material and professional stability.

  • Relationship difficulties

recurring patterns of conflict, tendencies toward destructive relationships, and difficulty building lasting, satisfying bonds.

  • Personality disorders

rigid, repetitive patterns of reacting and experiencing that impair functioning (in particular narcissistic and borderline spectrum).

  • Trauma and its long-term consequences

difficult past experiences that continue to affect current emotional and relational functioning.

Process

One process, 5 clear stages

Work at Instytut Liberté follows a structured and transparent protocol. This means that from the very first meeting you have full clarity about the stage your process is at, the goals we are pursuing, and where we are heading - without ambiguity or superficial promises.

  1. 01

    Structural interview

    Format: Approximately 5-7 initial sessions

A genuine psychotherapy process at our Institute is always preceded by an in-depth structural interview (conducted, among others, on the basis of the clinically recognized STIPO-R protocol). This is a series of initial diagnostic meetings aimed at an objective assessment of psychological functioning, identification of dominant defense mechanisms, and determination of personality structure.

This stage helps precisely distinguish a genuine need for therapy from a passing interest in self-development, giving both sides the space to make an informed decision about further collaboration.

  2. 02

    Diagnosis

Format: The culmination of the interview stage

Based on the information gathered, the clinician formulates a reliable psychodynamic and nosological diagnosis (in line with current medical classifications).

Instead of general conclusions, you receive a clear, clinical understanding of the causes of the difficulties, relational crises, or professional barriers you have reported. A reliable diagnosis ensures that even if the process is interrupted early, you leave with full knowledge of the areas requiring further work.

  3. 03

    Setting goals and the contract

Format: 1-2 contracting sessions before the process itself begins

After the diagnostic stage, we move on to formulating concrete, realistic, and measurable therapy goals. Together, we define the areas subject to change and establish a transparent therapeutic contract.

It clearly sets out the organizational and financial framework, a fixed time and frequency of sessions. At Instytut Liberté, you pay for the reservation of time, continuity of the process, and the clinician's full readiness for clinical work.

  4. 04

    Therapeutic work

Format: Regular sessions once or twice a week (50 minutes each)

This is the genuine, intensive therapeutic process aimed at working through unconscious conflicts, changing rigid response patterns, and restructuring personality. The work is based on the therapeutic relationship, with a strong emphasis on analyzing what unfolds in the "here and now" dynamic.

Throughout the process, we conduct a cyclical evaluation of progress (every 1-3 months), verifying how far the work undertaken is bringing you closer to the established goals and genuine psychological resilience.

  5. 05

    Ending therapy

Format: A planned closing stage, usually 3-4 sessions

Psychotherapy at our Institute has defined boundaries and does not aim to foster dependence on the relationship with the therapist. Ending is a planned, gradual stage of closing the collaboration, opened once therapeutic goals have been achieved.

The key criterion is verifying whether you have developed stable inner competencies, calm, and full autonomy that allow you to independently and consciously handle personal and professional challenges.

FAQ

Najczęstsze pytania.

  • What is psychodynamic psychotherapy and what is its scientific effectiveness?

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a process aimed at durably resolving the causes of difficulties - not merely relieving symptoms temporarily. At Instytut Liberté, we base our work on the evidence-based paradigm: methods with scientifically confirmed effectiveness, recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UK's National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

The process allows access to unconscious motivations, internal conflicts, and personality defense mechanisms, leading to a lasting change in the patterns in which you function.

  • How does this approach differ from business coaching or mentoring?

Executive coaching and mentoring work mainly at the level of behavior - teaching management and motivation techniques, focusing on quickly easing a symptom. Instytut Liberté does not provide coaching.

Our work addresses the causes of relational difficulties and patterns of functioning under pressure, leading to lasting autonomy - not just temporary improvement in results.
